Is it possible to get rid of mouth ulcers with a local treatment?
Local treatments generally reduce pain and sometimes the lifespan of mouth ulcers, but seldom decrease frequency of mouth ulcer crises. Antiseptic mouthwashes are good to avoid secondary infection. Corticoid-based local treatments are efficient to block the inflammatory process of the mouth ulcer. They do not prevent any future mouth ulcers crisis, and often have side effects which make their frequent use a problem.
